Does any one know a rough date of when applicants recieve decisions? I know that the application says “early April”, but what does that mean?

I'd expect that you'd hear by April 15th at the very latest.

April 15? I thought April 1 was the "Common Response Date." Man, I sure hope it's not April 15, I'm dying to know, good or bad! Closure, I need some closure haha

I may be wrong. That'd just be the latest. They're very vague about decision dates.

I got mine a few days after April 1st, maybe the 3rd or 4th.

Gotcha, thanks for the update everybody!

on princeton review or collegeboard (i forget which one), it says April 5th

it's so far away......... :(

The overwhelming majority of Regular Decision applicants will receive their decisions around April 1st. However, a small percentage may receive unofficial acceptances from Bowdoin before then. Basically, it's a letter that says that you're accepted. I received this early acceptance from Bowdoin last year in early march.

how early in march?

Wow, what did you do to merit that special letter? When did you get it?

I received it within the first two weeks of March. I'm extremely tempted to say around March 10th. The letter states that you and only a small percentage of other applicants receive it, that you've been accepted, that you would be an extraordinary asset to the student body at Bowdoin, and that your "official" acceptance letter will be sent later.

"Wow, what did you do to merit that special letter? When did you get it?"

As far as stats, I was a hard working student. I took the most challenging courses available in my high school, was ranked in the top decile of my class, and had a high gpa. In addition, I did an extraordinary amount of community service, tutored fellow students daily in Spanish after school, worked at RFK Stadium and the MCI Center in Washington, DC, was a member of the National Honor Society, President of the Spanish Honor Society, created a video about the faculty of my school and the integrity of the student body (it was about cheating and plagiarism, and what the faculty does not do to prevent it), worked on the school newspaper, etc. I was a Washington Metro Scholar in Washington, DC, and being one helps students to gain admission to many great schools (including the Ivy League + Top Liberal Arts Colleges). Also, I went to Bowdoin's Multicultural Weekend in November of 2004. I met many admissions officers, had conversations with them, and had a fantastic on campus interview. In addition, Bowdoin, like many top liberal arts colleges, do heavy recruitment to attract the best urm applicants in the country, and that was to my advantage (I'm half black/half hispanic).

Has anyone gotten a "special" letter?

It's my understanding that applicants of diverse race or ethnicity receive their admissions decisions early, and from there, some are invited to attend the "Bowdoin Experience" weekend, so that is probably what those "special" letters are...I believe that Bowdoin's regular notification is March 31. Hope that helps!

do you know exactly when bowdoin sends decisions to diverse race/ethnicity applicants? in addition, (i don't know how much knowledge any of you have about their admissions process) but taking into considering that i'm hispanic/living in southeast asia, can i assume i'm rejected if i don't receive a decision by the end of this week?

Now that is a weird combo: "a hispanic living in southeast asia".

No - do not assume that you were rejected! They can only take a certain number of people for the experience weekend, so even from the accepted diverse race/ethnicity students, they can only invite a certain percentage of those students, so as far as we all know, you're still in it! Good luck!!

jeez i really can't wait for my letter. everyday i anxiously check the mailbox HOPING that it might be there even though it prob won't be here for at least 2 more weeks lol

I feel the same way! I think the count is down to 17 days until April 1, but I'm telling myself that I won't hear until April 3 so I won't be bummed out if I don't hear by April 1. AHHHHH!!!! The suspense is absolutely killing me!

so is bowdoin everyone's favorite? or what other schools are u waiting for? i'm still waiting for bowdoin, duke, dartmouth, colgate, and uva.. but i'm pretty much sure that bowdoin is my favorite-- (duke being a close secodn)

I distinctly remember Bowdoin's acceptance letter coming last out of all my applications. It came around April 15th.
