Appliance question

Hello, I have a bit of a weird/possibly silly question to ask. I'm getting all of my things together to move in next week and I was what exactly makes an appliance 'open coil'. The example listed by my school is a toaster, which is rather obvious, but does anything that can heat water fall under this category as well? I purchased something along those lines, but it doesn't have any sort of burner that it sits on, and does not say if it is open coil so I am not exactly sure if it is against the rules.

Thanks in advance!

My school specifies no “open heating elements”, whatever that means. We aren’t allowed to have toasters and the like. But assuming heating elements / coils are the same thing, which I would imagine they would be, we ARE allowed to have coffee makers and hot pots. If your appliance doesn’t have a visible heating element, though, you should probably be fine. If they’re anything like my school, they just don’t want people bringing hot plates, toaster ovens, etc.

Mine should be fine then. Thank you very much!

i’m not allowed to have hotpots or coffee makers along with that ><
