Applicant questionaire

I just checked my application status online and there was a questionaire waiting to be filled out. From what it said on the website, they will send out e-mails about it soon.

There were a lot of questions about what might have hindered you from achieving all you wanted in high school: availability of advanced classes, did parents encourage you to apply to college, how much did you work, etc.

Does everyone else have this? I think Berkeley likes to really give a chance to underprivileged applicants and enhance diversity (I guess). I’m just wondering if they search out applicants to give the questionaire to or if everyone has it.

BTW, I guess Berkeley allows you to send in a recommendations because there was a box to check at the bottom of the questionaire if you were planning to send a rec.

i believe this is what happens when you are borderline- i didnt get one, but one of my friends did, and she ultimately got rejected

i didnt get anything like that, but does it really mean that your borderline? .....

Wouldn't it be the opposite situation? They are interested in you, so they want to know you better (I think).

I believe you get something like that if you have noted any answer to that last essay question about special circumstances- disability, disadvantaged, etc.........different basis questions for different trigger points- like the disability one is all about your disability vs being disadvantaged

I also recieved one. How "select" is it?

DAMN IT. I GOT ONE TODAY! s-h-i-T!!!!

So is this a good or bad thing? No one's actually answered that question.

just answer the questions as best as you can. they will decide. its a waste of time trying to figure out what they want to do with it cuz u will never arrive at a definite answer

they do that if you talked about any compromising conditions (illnesses etc) that you talked about on your app.

This is from:

Comprehensive Review in Freshman Admissions – Fall 2003: A Report from the Board of Admissions and Relations with Schools
- Written September 2003

Under Berkeley's Admission Process it says:
"Readers scored all undergraduate applications to Berkeley on a seven-point scale (1-5, including a score of 2.5, plus an additional score for ineligibles). This year the intermediate score of 2.5 was added to the scale to provide readers with a finer resolution near the ultimate admit/deny score divide.

Readers could refer applicants who were close to being competitive for admission to an augmented review process, in which applicants were requested to submit supplemental information in the form of a questionnaire and letters of recommendation. Less than six percent (about 2,100 out approximately 37,000 applicants) were reviewed under augmented review."

There's the final say.

ahhhhhhhh :(

damn prophasi. very nice job. u proved me wrong

for everyone that got it and already submitted, do they still have it up at your myberkeleyapp site. they still have mine and i can still look at it. is it the same for you guys, just want to make sure that i submitted correctly

they check it after 10 calendar days. they dont look at it before that so u can just submit 999999 times and they still will not check it.

I got another question. It says that the letter of recommendation has to be submitted within 10 CALENDAR DAYS. What does that mean? I click on the letter of rec link in the email and it says 10 BUSINESS DAYS there. Does that mean just Monday-Friday or what?

business = 10 days monday-friday so from thursday to monday, is only 3 business days
calendar = 10 days.

When did those who received this questionnaire submit their application (e.g. on Nov 30 or before)? Would it only be for Cal residents? And out of curiosity what programs did you apply to in Berkeley.

I submitted my app on Nov 30th at like 11:40. : ) I think someone on the College Admissions forum from New York or something got one, so I don't think its only for CA residents. By "program" do you mean major?

thx for letting me know. yea, by program i mean major. I applied to engineering undeclared.

Prophasi is correct.

I live in NY and received this supplement.

Nov 30th + undeclared eng.
