hey hope18...in the status for financial aid in briefCase, it says I haven't completed the second step. It says the document needed is:

Admission to a Degree-Seeking Program at Case

Did you also get that/do you know what it means?

I've got the same deal.

Congratulations! You have been admitted to Case Western Reserve University. Please look for your official letter of admission in the mail.

I got this Tuesday and I applied November 27, 2007. Didn't apply to PPSP.

ny10804:

I think we gotta wait till we get the acceptance letter in the mail that has instructions on it

Just found out, I got in!
yay

I got in, but I have no merit scholarships under my provisional awards. 35 ACT/salutatorian/excellent volunteer work (over 1000 hours). I'm a finalist for OLAP, but I need a bigger scholarship (ie trustee's). Does anyone know if I can still get one of the big scholarships? If so, when would I find out? Is it possible that they're waiting to find out if I'm an OLAP winner before telling me?

Still haven't even found out if I got in. I hate waiting....

accepted!!...president scholarship ($22,500) may notbe enought to persuade me...do you know if they give out the other big scholarships at time of admittance, bc the website says they will be anounced by april 15th...??

Pardon the probably-stupid question, but how do you find out that you've been offered a scholarship?

I just got my admission letter, but it doesnt say anything about this?

^ send a mail to an admission counselor

Step 2 said the same thing (about needing to be accepted into a degree seeking program) for my s for a couple of days after he received the acceptance letter.
Today is switched over to that step completed. But, they still haven't determined his award. According to the website, that could take a few weeks.

Yes, they haven't determined my initial Award yet either. And also I was offered a provisional award. President's + 300+ in loan (unsubsidized perkins) What does anyone think about the provisional? And usually, does the provisional usually stick close to the amount you will actually get? Thanks a lot.

It was posted online today that I got in! I got a LOT more aid than I expected, too =]

got in :) (10 char)

I just got my admission letter, too :) It was dated March 10 so I guess it just takes awhile for delivery. I got a Presidential scholarship and a invitation to apply for the Wolf Scholarhip.

Did anyone else get the Wolf invite? I'm not really too sure what it is/about.

My son was invited to write the essays for the Wolf scholarship.

Do you guys think I should refuse the 3K in loans (unsub. stafford loan) from Case? i think my parents will be able to handle the money, but some people think refusing a part of the package will affect financial aid decisions next year.

I'm really curious as to what kind of stats those of you who received Presidential scholarships have, if you don't mind posting. My s wasn't offered ANY merit aid, and he has 3.95/ 4.1 gpa with a 34 ACT.

D was offered presidential scholarship: National Merit Commended, AP scholar, 2200 SAT(only took one time), 780 Bio SAT II, 700 Lit SAT II, Governor's school ( competitive state sponsored residential summer program for AG), 3X scholarship winner to summer music festivals, 2 varsity sports (XC 2 years, swimming 4),USS swimming 2 years, good community service, leader in youth orchestra, concerto soloist, music coach to students without private teachers, all state orchestra, shared concertmaster in school orchestra, swim coach in summer league (one summer), small chamber group, summer chamber camp counselor, nice rec's from teachers who had her all 4 years. Her GPA was the low point 3.4U/4.4W (8APs-school requires exam in all) but she goes to a very competitive HS. I guess it was the other stuff that got her the scholarship. I hate posting this "brag sheet" and hope it is not offensive and is helpful. I always like to know stats, too.

There are so many amazing kids this year and so many kids applying to 15+ schools which makes it even crazier (D did 5 schools). I imagine some of the students offered the presidential will turn it down as they sort through the schools they have offerings from and that many schools will come back and offer the scholarships to other deserving students.

Case Western R. adm. posted that I should be getting official decision letter in two weeks. Is that a good sign?
