APPLICANT TYPES- Released from Dean Fitzsimmons

You are correct. There are many more lecherous old men than horny old women.

I can only assume the proportions are the same in admissions committees.

I think my type (Jewish, short, female, under $20,000 a year income, amazing in humanities, horrific in math, writes a helluva an essay, blows a standardized test like no other) would go worlds towards making Havhahd interesting. C'mon, H, make it happen!

A Jewish girl taught me this:

Baruch atah Adonai, elocheinu melech haolam, asher kidishanu b'mitzvotau vitzivanu, lechadlik ne'er shell Shabbat.

There was some other stuff too, but it's not for polite conversation.

[Conservative kid who does all the extracurriculars and community service]
[Kid who for some reason can never get high enough on standardized tests]
[Middle class white kid who, although his parents make ~$100 grand have decided only to pledge $2 grand toward his education, has spent the past 6 summers working 40+ hour weeks to pay for college, because he will most likely receive very little financial aid]

Starting ranting toward the end. I make my own categories :)

post the link to this interview

and what does he mean by QQ

She taught you a Shabbas prayer? LOL.

"[The middle class white kid with decent stats]" and "[The robotic Asian]" as contrasted with "[The quota fodder URM, who is qualified but has a massive target on their back for QQ from others]"? Please! Keep you biases to yourself. You probably cant even see the racism in this that's directed against asians and middle class whites or is that acceptable in your social circle of mindless drones..

What is the difference between Shabbas and Sabbat?

To the above the OP was probably joking, what is QQ?

i think i fall in the [gangster] territory.

you know: hard-knocked life, daddy left my wife; pockets full of lent, not a cent; made it through school being nerdy yet so fresh and cool; started slinging crack at age eight to make great payments; started carrying a piece to make sure i didn't hit the pavement.

sigh.

[The quota fodder URM, who is qualified but has a massive target on their back for QQ from others

wat the heck is QQ?

I'm definitely the under qualified athlete lol...but I'm in so I'm stoked!

I do not fit into any of these categories. I am not white or asian, but I am also not a URM. I play rugby but I guess thats not enough to be counted as a recruitable sport, so I can not be considered an athlete. I am the exact opposite of the fourth category: I have great stats, just bad SAT-1s (in RC and Writing). I am not an actor. I am not liberal nor a Ex-Cs glutton. Not a science geek, but I do fare well in Math/ Science classes. I wrote my essay about being in a war but in a positive light so I do not think that will get me any pity points. I did not send any supp recommendations. I guess I am more lopsided toward Math/ Science to be considered perfectly well-rounded.

I guess if I were to pick one negative category to describe my app it would be
[the international/ semi-international student trying overshadow poor SAT RC and Writing scores with great stats/ Ex-Cs, the fact that English was not his/her first language, and the diversity he/she can bring to the college]

i don't really fit anything, but if i had to choose, it'd be the jack of all trades but master of none LOL. SIGH IT SUCKS.

lol I'm none of these. ouch.

Yeah, she did. She was gorgeous.

I don't know that they've ever had enough to these to qualify as a "category" of applicant. They've had Natalie Portman, Mira Sorvino, Matt Damon (not sure whether he was an actor before he enrolled at Harvard), and now rumors of maybe Emma Watson (although the Yale rumors seem to be stronger). Any others that qualify?

Tommy Lee Jones and John Lithgow definitely did not apply to Harvard as actors. They were just high school kids going off to college.

I think if you count his one line role in "Mystic Pizza", he was in fact an actor before he got there. (wikipedia)

With Emma Watson the rumors are all over the place.

Has anyone called troll on the original post yet? There is no source citation.

The post is a joke.....It's supposed to make you go "Pfffffff! I know someone just like that - pretty funny".

Omg Token, you're right; there is no way in h%^& any college Dean would publicly admit to such stereotypical categories. I guess everyone just went along cause it's fun to compare each other to our stereotypical categories
