Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to make this so that those of us applying to Wellesley College this year will have a place to come and talk with each other about our thoughts and experiences as we go through this process.

Is anyone going to attend Discover Wellesley? I just registered today, I’m so excited!

*The October 22 weekend, I meant to say.

Good luck with the college application process to you both! I’ll be a senior at Wellesley this year, so please feel free to PM me with any questions. I’m always happy to help.

Hi everyone! I’m an incoming freshman at Wellesley. I went through this entire admission process last year so I’d love to help if you guys have questions. Feel free to PM me as well!

Hello!
I’m a rising senior applying to Wellesley ED and I was wondering if I should turn in my application early or wait until the deadline. Also, can I send in my SAT scores after the commonapp is submitted or do I have to wait for the scores to be submitted and then turn in the app? Thanks! :D

From what I know, you can submit the scores after the deadline. If you’re really worried, include a note telling them that it’s on it’s way.
I’m also a rising senior and I’m turning in my app early… I figure it’s better to get myself in there at the beginning!

You can submit your scores after the application is turned in. Also, turning in your application before the deadline doesn’t really affect admission decisions, as I believe the admissions officers don’t start going through applications until the deadline has passed. However, turning it in early would probably be a good way to avoid last-minute stress and ensure that you aren’t rushing through essays the night they’re due, so I say go for it! :)

I have a question… would it be too cliche to write my essay on Female Authors and Characters that have influenced me? I’m really quite passionate about that issue… but I’m worried that Wellesley gets that kind of topic too much during admissions.

Yep I’m doing the overnight weekend in October as well! I’m so excited…I fell in love with the campus and everything about it when I visited last year and over the summer. And a question for the current Wellesley students, how often do students from Wellesley typically go off campus and into Cambridge or Boston? And when they go, what are some things that they typically do? Thanks so much, it’s awesome to have this thread going.

My D is a new freshman and has already been into Cambridge/Boston twice and goes back again this weekend - I expect she will go in once a weekend in the off-season and less in Spring. So, far it looks like she is attending Frat parties… but she went kayaking with the school and loves Boston in general so will also likely go to see bands, eat, shop and hang out with friends at other Boston area schools (both those she knew before and new friends yet to be met)

Oh, she also is planning to take her foreign language at MIT since Wellesley doesn’t offer what she wants.

Hi girls!
I was just wondering if you need to send a high school transcript when you’re applying…oh! also, is anyone else applying ED here? :D

I’m applying Early Decision Does anyone know when we will find out acceptance/rejection?

I’m going to try to answer a bunch of questions that haven’t been addressed yet.

taylorspence: I think that essay topic sounds just fine. While the admissions officers have probably seen it before, your take on it will be a fresh one, since it will apply to your life. I wouldn’t worry too much about how common an essay topic is, as long as you use it in a personal way.

Regarding the early decision notification date, Wellesley’s website indicates that you’ll find out in mid-December. If your application is deferred, you’ll find out around April 1st with regular decision candidates (but you’ll be notified of the deferral in mid-December). More information on dates can be found here: [Decision Plans | Wellesley College - Wellesley College](http://new.wellesley.edu/admission/apply/decisions)

cathyberry: A transcript is required. You should check with your guidance counselor to see if it will be sent automatically with the secondary school report or if you’ll need to send it separately. More information here: [How to Apply | Wellesley College - Wellesley College](http://new.wellesley.edu/admission/apply/howto)

I’m a freshman at Wellesley this year and I have to admit that I go off campus way too often hehehe. I really enjoy being in the city to wander around or study in a cafe (my current favorite is Trident on Newbury street!). It depends what your schedule looks like because it takes about 40-60 minutes to get into Cambridge/Boston and about 30-40 minutes to get back to Wellesley… aka it takes a good portion of time. The nice thing is that you can take that time to study on the bus (there’s free WiFi!).

I personally arranged my schedule so that I have no classes Tuesdays and Fridays. Those days I typically go into Boston in the morning on the Exchange (free on weekdays!) and come back in the evenings. I also like to go visit my boyfriend on the weekends (he’s in Boston), but that costs $3 each direction.

All in all, it’s really easy to get off campus if you want to!

Thanks to everyone for giving us applicants great answers!
I have a question about sending standardized test scores… Should I send my SAT (2130 with subject tests math 1-720 and US history-700) or should I send my ACT score (32)? Also, if I have anything to send like my transcript and counselor/teacher recs, should I address the envelope to the admissions office?

Thanks and have a great day! :)

Hi Cathyberry,

I personally think you should send all the scores! It speaks well of you that you can take both exams and score well. In regards to the transcripts and letters of rec, you can just send it in a manila envelope addressed to the office of admissions! Just make sure your legal name is on all the documents in case they get lost/separated.

Best of luck,
Priscilla

I am applying ED and just submitted my common app and supplement last night. When will I get the MyWellesley login information? Is it okay for me to start sending supporting materials now?

BostonianWannabe, I’m not sure about the answers to either question. If those issues aren’t addressed on the Wellesley website, it might be best to call the admissions office on Tuesday and ask them.

Sent my early decision application in…hoping for the best!
