Applicants from Sri Lanka

Anyone applying to US universities from Sri Lanka? Make this a discussion thread then?

Hello to all the (potential) Sri lankan posters from India! :)

Hey perfectpixie!
Ready for Yale SCEA? Seen a lot of your posts on that thread…

Oh hey! I wasn’t expecting anyone to recognise me, lol.
Ready as I could ever be I guess. ^_^*
So, you applied to Yale SCEA too eh?
Haha, this is funny. The first few posts on the Sri Lankan thread are b/w a sri lankan and an Indian, lol. I’m sure this will change soon though! :)

Yeaps, applied SCEA. Pretty nervous after seeing the scarily awesome applicants out there. How do your test scores stack up?

They’re okey dokey imo. Nothing jaw droppingly awesome. I still have to get my subject scores from the November test date though.

Ah aite… Same here, waiting for subject test scores from Nov.

It’s sad that I am yet to find an active Sri Lankan on CC. Sigh. Oh btw, do you think I might get a URM advantage (among internationals) because so few apply from Sri Lanka. Potentially, I MIGHT be the only one applying Yale SCEA; this I say with 75% confidence.

Um, I couldn’t say really. Being from Sri Lanka might give you an advantage, idk. I do know many Sri Lankans appply abroad too though, I might be wrong?
But then there’s the fact of your being South Asian. Which screams ORM. So I really couldn’t comment.

Yeah many do apply abroad. MANY. But only a handful get into Ivy’s and M/S from the entire country; half from my high school possibly each year.

Yeah, you must be correct. I wish I were born in a secluded island in the Pacific Ocean. Heh.
