S moved Trinity to the top of his list and removed many others from RD consideration. Fantastic school. Personal letter was very detailed and thoughtful. We look forward to accepted students day in Feb. Anyone else?
My personaized note is about my essay. I wonder if everyone else’s is too. Just curious (:
@Universitya11 My son’s was about his essay but also about his clay shooting which was discussed in his interview.
My DD’s note was personalized mentioning her interview and essay regarding music. Eventhough she is pre-med, the AR must have sent her application to the music department because she recieved a nice email from the Director of Choral Activities inviting her to audition for a choir scholarship as the scholarships are awarded to non-music majors too. I am just really impressed with Trinity.
@4kids4colleges - I think we may be coming to the February accepted students days. I will let you know!
@sportingclaymom my DS was on a sporting clay team in middle school, but gave it up in HS because Debate was too intensive for him to do both.
@sahmkc I never thought I’d be into guns but I really love what the sport has done for my son. Teaches him focus and really helps to keep his head in the moment and not to stress about the future. He’s only been doing it for 2 years but is ranked in the top 10 nationally for his class. I think Trinity is a perfect fit for him.
My son’s note was about his essay. He did not have a chance to interview. I visited Trinity a few years ago when my daughter was looking (she ended up at Southwestern, and it is currently his GF’s top choice), but we really look forward to another visit with DS. @sahmkc let me know if you make it to the February event! Congrats all.
My son’s note was also about his essay. We’re in VA, so we’re hoping to make it to the Feb event. If not, I’ll rely on all of you wonderful parents to keep me in the loop! I, too, am quite impressed with Trinity and all they have to offer–my son will be studying engineering, and although a liberal arts school, they have a lot to offer in the field. Have a wonderful holiday season and enjoy every moment–they’re going by really fast!
We are officially registered for the 2/8 admitted Tiger day. Just an FYI many of the hotel rooms in the Riverwalk area (this is a fun area of San Antonio and about a 5 minute drive to Trinity) offer only Double size beds instead of Queens in their two bed rooms. We ended up staying at the Drury Plaza Hotel San Antonio Riverwalk as they were one of the few hotels with Queen beds. Last trip we stayed at the Hotel Contessa and the double beds were a bit tight especially if you are used to a King bed. lol
Has anyone attended an individual campus visit? What did you do there and how did it go? My family and I are planning to schedule an individual visit before attending any of their Tiger events.
@Universitya11 I’m not sure a campus visit would be productive if you are planning on attending an admitted student day. Basically, the visit consists of a campus tour and an information session that is geared toward applying to the school. You can add on sitting in on a class and/or meeting with a professor, but those are included with the admitted Tiger days. If you live close and it’s easy for you to get there, I think it would be fine. I wouldn’t waste money for a hotel room or flight to go to a separate tour as the admitted students days will cover a lot of the same information.
@sahmkc thanks!
Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!!!
We were waitlisted which is honestly fine. I think daughter was thrilled with being waitlisted as we expected to get rejected outright.
@NicoleGreen -43 students were accepted off of the waitlist in 2017 according to USNWR. Fingers crossed for you and your D!
Honestly. It doesn’t really matter. Neither of us ever seriously thought she’d be able to go here. This was her one reach school. Her stats are slightly below their average, and it is way out of our budget. I only allowed her to apply because it is a TE school. However, we found out in Dec., she didn’t get TE. Her export school chooses solely on parent seniority. She was 5th on the list, and they only took 3 this year. So, at this point, even if they accepted her, we couldn’t afford it. It’s fine she has received great merit aid from a number of other schools, including her top choice, so we’re happy with the situation.
We are back from Trinity Admitted Tigers day. DD has deposited and is very excited to be a part of the class of 2023. If you have any questions about the event, I will try to answer them.
Has anyone who was waitlisted heard anything? My daughter’s letter told her she’d hear by Feb 15.
Admitted today with President’s scholarship! Going for a visit soon.
Got in a little while ago with a 23k scholarship! 28 ACT, 3.5 UW GPA, 4.1 W GPA, URM, and lots of political ECS.
We are signed up for March 22 Tiger Friday. Anyone else?
Yes, we are going, too.
