Application/Admission Question

Hello. My daughter has applied for fall 2019 freshman admission. She is majoring in Dance, which requires an audition. She plans on auditioning in November. My question is: will her admission be delayed until after her dance audition or will she get in (if accepted) academically once they begin considering applications?

Thanks

Admission to USF is separate from major/departmental admission.

@RealAcadAdvisor Thank you. If I’d waited until a little later in the day I’d have been able to answer my own question. She was admitted.

@livingis2me My daughter also has applied for fall 2019 freshman admission. She is minoring in Dance (though she hasn’t ruled out a major), and has signed up for the November audition also. (She’s still awaiting a decision from USF, since her high school hasn’t yet sent her transcript.) We’re OOS (Virginia). If you’re interested, maybe our daughters can make contact about the upcoming dance audition. She’s been dancing 13 years at her studio and takes the full range of dance (ballet, cechetti, jazz, lyrical, and modern). :slight_smile:

D was just accepted into the USF Honors College and also received the Green & Gold Presidential Award. She’s so excited! D is looking forward to the Dance Program audition next week. She’s still very interested in U of F, but the cost of attending USF has suddenly gotten VERY attractive. :slight_smile:

@VABogart- my apologies. I don’t log into this board too often and I missed your above message.

My daughter is also auditioning in November. USF is her back-up school. She has wanted to attend the dance program at Florida State University since she has been in middle school as she has done a couple of summer intensives there as well as dance workshops there every February since she was in 5th grade. However her SAT is stuck at 1260 and she needs 1290 to get her full Florida Bright Futures scholarship. So if she doesn’t get that full scholarship, she would attend USF since it’s only 15 minutes from home and then she wouldn’t have the living expenses. But really it’s a win-win because USF and FSU both have top 25 dance programs.

I’m sure she’d love to meet your daughter. I don’t want to post personal information of hers on this site. Feel free to message me and I’ll pass the info along to her.

@livingis2me Thanks – I sent you a message.
