Application Confusion

Hey all, I submitted the CommonApp for GWU 2 days ago. I got an email back from them confirming that they received the CommonApp. I used the ID they gave me and created a GWU account. I was led to go through a step by step process and basically submit information to them that I already sent in with my CommonApp. ***? Then they asked me to write two more essays. I'm so confused, I thought the CommonApp supplement essay was all they needed...is the GWU essays on their website optional?

I think you may have signed for honors, and Honors requires two more essays.

But I didn’t sign up for honors. I checked off “no” for honors on the CommonApp supp. I realized that the first essay prompt on the GWU website was the same exact one as the CommonApp supp. So I just copied and pasted my CommonApp supp essay to the GWU one and I did the 2nd essay as well. When I clicked “submit” on the GWU website, it asked me to pay $65 for the app fee! But I already paid that on the CommonApp. That’s when I knew something was up.

When I checked the App status checked on the GWU website, it said they recevied my CommonApp, CommonApp supp, but were missing my grades/SAT score (which is fine since they were sent out 2 days ago). The status checker shows this:

As we review applications the status of your application may change. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Also, please understand that during the busiest times of the admission season—especially in early January—it can take up to three weeks for us to process materials after they arrive in the Admissions Office. We appreciate your patience.

Does it show on the Common App website that all has been submitted? If no----resend supplement. If yes–I would call the Admissions Office

I think the glitch is tha, for some unknown reason, your app is “labeled” GW application, and not Common APP. CALL admissions inmediately, they have to fix it, or it will be forever incomplete. I wish you the best!

i am applying there too. but the thing is you filled the gw app twice.

as an applicant you have the option of filling out either the CommonApp or the GW online app. If you fill out the CommonApp you must be sure to fill out the GW specific supplement. You do not need to do both.
