I’m trying to type in all my grades, but I’m confused: what does “term” mean exactly? My school runs on a quarter system – there are four quarters per school year. But I was told to only type in my semester grades. So what do I do with the “third term” and “fourth term”? I’m so confused. Thanks in advance!

Are you sure it's a quarter system?

It doesn't sound like it. You are on a semester system if: a) quarter grades are not permanent; it can still go up or down before the end of the semester b) a quarter is not a complete segment of a course; there is no final every quarter.

If it is indeed a semester system, then you have only 2 terms. The others should be left blank.

Well quarter grades are permanent, but there are only finals at the end of each semester. So I'll do a semester system on the UC application. Thank you!

Really? Quarter grades show up on your transcripts? And the grading starts fresh at the beginning of every quarter?

If so, that's an interesting system you have there.

If the person that told you so is a school administrator, then I'd feel safe going with the semester system.

No, sorry, I guess I didn't explain properly.

We have four quarters, and for each quarter, we get an individual grade.
At the end of both semesters, we take finals. The finals + the two quarter grades = semester grade.
The semester grades make up our transcript.

I ended up doing semester system on the UC application, so thanks for your help!
