Applied before Dec 1 deadline with common app and essays, but the transcripts and SAT scores came in after that date. Will I still be considered on time for the scholarship cutoff date? Also, still have not heard from them one way or the other. Is anyone that applied in Nov still waiting for their decision?

We received an acceptance within two weeks and then honors college acceptance a week after that.
Application was submitted in November.

Q: Will I still be considered on time for the scholarship cutoff date?
A: I would think so. I submitted an application to ODU, my safety school, after their early admissions deadline, but they still offered me a scholarship. It’s another school, so I’m not sure if the same applies to VCU.
A person from GMU has also called me reminding me to send my transcript (I forgot) about a week after I submitted my application (early applied), and I panicked for forgetting. He basically told me not don’t worry about it, so I’m confident I’ll still be considered for GMU’s scholarships.
These are two different schools, so I’m not sure if VCU is the same. Most likely is since the other two still considered me for scholarships.

Q: Is anyone that applied in Nov still waiting for their decision?
A: I applied by the Dec. 1 deadline as well. I sent my transcripts after the deadline in all of my schools (all of them also applied before early deadline). All of my colleges sent acceptance letters back within a month except VCU. I live in Chesapeake (about two hours away from VCU), but I’m not sure if that makes a difference.
I honestly want to review my acceptances immediately (my top schools being VCU and GMU), and I want to submit my housing/enrollment dues right away. VCU is holding this process back, so I’m getting a bit uneasy if the application was sent (Common App was a bit confusing when I submitted my application causing my doubts on whether or not VCU received it).

If you hear back from VCU, please tell me. I’d like to know as well! It’ll help me estimate when I should get mine. And likewise, I’ll tell you if I get my letter.

Called the college about the scholarship, and the person who answered said that the entire package must be received by Dec 1 to be considered for scholarships. I hope she is wrong, as I should be eligible.

I don’t know what could be holding up the decision. With rolling admissions, thought the answer would have come in Jan. Some people I know applied at the same time heard back like the prior poster, within a couple of weeks. I hope this doesn’t indicate bad news???

Hopefully that isn’t true. So far only one person from my school (that I know of) has received her acceptance letter (about two weeks ago) from VCU. When she got her acceptance letter, I was sure mine was going to arrive soon. It hasn’t yet.

I’ll be quite disappointed if the person you called was right. The other colleges I applied to are roughly the same size, one easier to get into and the other harder to get into. Both, however, still considered me for scholarships despite me sending in my transcripts after the deadline.

There is a possibility the person you called was wrong. I asked someone at GMU if I could send my transcript after I submit my application and still be considered as an early applier, and she said it was fine because GMU allots a few days after the deadline in case there was trouble delivering. Roughly two or three days later, I asked again to confirm it, but this time a new person said everything should be sent by the deadline and that anything after is regular decision. I got two different answers, but the first one was probably correct because I received my acceptance letter shortly after, along with some more mail every few days after that.

And again, ODU offered me a scholarship despite me sending in my application roughly a MONTH after their early deadline, and they responded really quick, too.

I’m getting prepared to go to my second choice if VCU doesn’t send in any letters by the end of this month. Hopefully it doesn’t reach that point.

@petso66 - I would think you should have heard from them by now. I would call admissions to make sure they have received all parts of your applicaition and make sure nothing is missing. Some students received scholarships when they were admitted to the honors college in december so I don’t know if they are still awarding more scholarships. Definitely call admissions. I heard at GMU some accepted students received scholarship notice with their admission letter.

When I called to ask about the scholarship consideration I also asked if the application package was complete and was told that it is. Given the rolling admissions, thought I would have heard by now, but looks like I am not the only one since Pesto is here with the same issue. I know one other person who applied just before I did and also has not heard anything, but others who applied after and have heard, so who knows? You applied to honors, maybe they get back to those applicants first. Have the stats for honors, decided not to go that route, but certainly those kinds of stats should be acceptable for regular VCU. Have received other admissions acceptances for more difficult colleges, but VCU is my first choice and would like to get an answer sooner rather than later!

I hope you hear something soon. When you log into your vcu account does it mention the paperwork for your application they have received? Could it be that many students submitted their apps during the same time period and they are still being reviewed.

@provence I just got my acceptance back today. It’s about darn time! Hopefully you’ll get yours soon (if you haven’t already).

Unfortunately, I already submitted my deposits for George Mason University because it was taking too long.

Your deposit to George Mason may be refundable if you ask before May 1.

Got a question. I just received the id number for setting up my email address but haven’t received any letter. Does it mean I am in?
