I'm currently a junior, and I just noticed a issue with the application deadline for most of the colleges I plan on applying to next year. Most of the deadlines are either january first or january 15th, but my school doesn't send out grades way beyond that. Our finals don't even start until January 9th to January 11th. Those are the 3 days we have finals, so grades won't be final either until a day or two after that. Even then, it could take a week or two before they actually send out report cards. How do I tell my colleges what my first semester grades are when I don't even have them?

In general, applications are submitted without any sr year grades. Once first semester grades are ready, they are then sent to schools; your school schedule is not going to be a problem.

Great! Then how much do colleges look at senior grades? How much weight do they put on them? Do they consider the new gpa that comes with those grades or the gpa that was sent orignally?

For EA/ED, usually not at all.

For RD, they do consider them because you are hopefully taking a demanding courseload. While arguable, I think the importance of course rigor and grades by year is: jr>sr>soph>fr.

Not sure exactly how they deal with 1 sem grades and your cummulative gpa, and it likely varies between schools.

Alright. Thanks.
