DS has applied to three schools with rolling admissions.

He also has a few w/ regular deadlines in Jan. When does he apply to them, exactly? Can he apply to them now? He wasn't rushing with them, thinking sometime in Dec, but we have had a heck of a time getting the career resource woman to actually mail out the HS transcripts. Took her 3 weeks for his UA application.

He can apply any time before the deadline. The exact date he submits his application won’t have any impact on his chances, because RD schools won’t officially begin reviewing the applications until the deadline has passed and all apps are in. There will be kids who applied the day the apps became available, and there will be kids who click “submit” at 11:59 pm on the deadline date. All are given the same consideration.

If he’s ready to submit his best application now, then there’s no reason to wait. The only reason to hold off is if he’s anticipating some award or accomplishment that he’d like to include on his app, or if he wants to have a few more people look over his essays. There’s no reason to rush, but at the same time, frantically trying to meet a deadline isn’t the most pleasant way to spend the busy holiday season! You can have his transcripts sent before he actually submits his application. If they receive it before his app is in, they’ll make a file for him in anticipation of his application and other materials.
