Hi! So, just yesterday I submitted my Cal Poly SLO application. Today, as I was filling out another application, I realized I forgot to put a class on my CP application. I studied abroad at one point during my high school career, and the school I was at had the same class I had at my original school. They’re both called “Honors Spanish 4.” I got a C in that class in my study abroad. Seeing as I had two classes named exactly the same, I didn’t catch that I was missing one on the application. I recorded all of my other “study abroad” grades. I recorded my C grade for Chemistry, so it wasn’t like I purposefully omitted the C grade in that other class. I read that “Cal Poly does not update coursework for Freshman applicants once your application has been submitted.” Does that mean they aren’t going to help me fix that one error? Thanks for reading and giving me your input!
Call admissions and ask them. They will give you the best information.
Agreed. Calling admission is always a best option.
My son made a mistake on his SLO application and admissions sent him a change of application form to fill out. Here is the link:http://dots-util.calpoly.edu/freshmen_changeUPDATE.php
Okay thanks! I filled out the form. I hope it can be fixed.
@inlovewithlife, I’m curious about this - please post an update when you learn if they accepted the change submitted on the online form. My son’s application had a coursework error, but when we called admissions they said they do not allow changes to high school coursework after the application has been submitted.
@usamom I got the same response. Seems a little odd that they would not want to help change an error. That would help avoid any misunderstandings, and flat out rejections. But hey, we tried. If anything comes to worse, we can say we did try to fix that unintentional error. It’d be unfair if that error caused an automatic rejection when we called to fix it almost right away.
@usamom Oh and I did some investigating, and a computer goes over all the apps Cal Poly gets apparently. So if there’s a missing course, it will probably reject it right away. I could be wrong though. However, I am certain that they don’t receive appeals for mistakes made on the application if you do indeed get rejected. Pretty rough haha.
I tried to update my work and volunteer info but also got am email back saying they don’t accept changes. I replied asking why they have the change request form and why they put on the application that they accept changes until January, but never heard back.
