Hello fellow GS applicants/students!
I am an international applicant, right in the midst of finalizing everything in my application.
I’m going to submit my application right before the March 1st deadline and thankfully I’m done with most things, except for one - the essay.
I was wondering whether everyone sees this odd message on the essay part of the on-line application -
“Once you have completed and submitted your application to the School of General Studies, you will find a link on your application status page to the Required Essay.”
I’m completely aware of the essay prompt, since I’ve seen it on the hard copy application papers. But I just wanted to make sure whether it is a standard procedure to submit the essay through the online application only after you send everything else…?
Yep, this is the procedure. You will submit part one of the application and then be led to the application management page that will display the status of required documents and allow you to upload the autobiographical essay.
@nickdrake What other documents other than the autobiographical essay am I required to submit?
You can upload an optional essay, a resume, and copies of your unofficial transcript. They can review your application with unofficial transcripts but you still need to send official copies.
@nickdrake I see. I do have a ‘work experience’ section to which I have already uploaded my resume. Is the resume requested in part two should be any different?
Also, by official you mean hard copies sent by the school, right?
Thanks for you answers, You’re really helping me out here.
I uploaded my resume in the first part of the application as well, but I now have the option to upload it again in part two. I would just upload it in part one. And yes, official copies are those that are received by the school in a signed envelope from your institution. So I wouldn’t bother uploading unofficial copies unless you’re expecting the official copies to take a while to get to the admissions department.
@nickdrake I will upload them anyways just in case. Thanks for you help and good luck to you!
