Application Essays

Question: Is Penn still using the Ben Franklin "moveable" essay for this year (class of 2018)?

If not, will there be a second essay apart from the "Why Penn?" one that has already been released on the site 'Page 217'?

Thanks!

We’ll find out in two more days. :)

Guess not :frowning: says Penn isn’t configured yet…and none of the schools have essays ready on the commonapp. Hopefully they get it ready soon so applicants know what prompts to write about.

I believe the Penn writing supplement has already been released:
[Essays - Freshmen Applicants - Penn Admissions](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/apply/freshman-admission/essays)

Correct me if I’m wrong.

^That’s only one of the essays. They have two on the supplement.

^ Not sure that’s true this year. My understanding from what’s been posted on the Admissions web site, and on Dean Furda’s blog, is that there is only one Penn Supplement essay this year for those not applying to one of the dual-degree or special programs (which, of course, have their own additional essays).

But we’ll find out soon enough. :)

^Wow, they’re really shaking things up this year then. I, for one, am glad Penn is taking a step towards streamlining the admissions process.

I was wondering about that too. I heard they had a Ben Franklin essay or something last year.

I also heard that the commonapp took out the box for extracurricular activities, and that if colleges wanted this extra information they would have to release their own prompts about extracurriculars…does this mean that we don’t need to write about our activities (essay-wise)?

So does this mean Penn only has the one supplemental essay? Does anyone know if people applying to Wharton have a specific essay to write? I just want to make sure I’m not missing anything when I apply! Thanks.
