Yes. The words get smaller on the application though, so you shouldn’t go over the word limit too much. It might get hard to read for the admissions committee.

How much do you want to exceed it by?
If it’s noticeably longer, the overtired reader who is working long hours to get through piles of apps, just may get slightly annoyed. When you’re tired and annoyed at someone, how easy is it for you to defend them to be promoted to the next round?

I didn’t go over too much, only 6 or 7 words ^^ I think it won’t annoy them.
