I thought we paid for the application fee, but it turns out that the credit card didn't go through, so now it wants us to send in the check of 60$ by mail. With only 5 days to go, I need to know how to send the check. Do i just send the check and put my name on it, and hope they know it's for my application fee. I"m so lost on what to do, and I've tried calling the office, but they're on break and the deadline to turn in the application materials is January 2nd. Help me ?

Write a note with it. Definitely put your name on the back.

Send it some way you can get it stamped with the date, while also getting some kind of physical receipt or proof of date sent.

If it’s postmarked before the deadline, then it should be fine. The pieces usually don’t have to be received by January 2nd, and if it’s this close to the deadline then they will have a backlog of mail and everything won’t get processes right away anyway.
I’m sure if you right your name and “Application Fee” on the memo line of the check then they’ll figure it out :)

I actually sent my payments hours after the deadline passed (I sent in the applications on time) for several of my college apps and it was fine. Not that I suggest doing it; you could also send an e-check.

Hold up. Have you contacted Common App? Were they the ones who told you to mail the check? You should make payment online.
