I recently submitted my UC applications and I qualified for the fee waivers, but I’m a bit confused as to whether or not I should have taken it. When inputting the information about household income it asks if you were claimed as a dependent. I technically wasn’t, but I could have been. It also states in the FAQ section of the page that some students will consider themselves independent even though they technically aren’t. I decided to say I was independent for the 2016 year and I only included myself in the household number and my own earnings.
Now my question is, even though I could have been claimed a dependent, but wasn’t, will this effect the fee waiver in actually being valid? Should I have included my whole family and our total income?
If the fee waiver turns out to not be valid, will I be able to pay another time or did I completely screw myself over in applying?
I may just be over thinking it, but any answer helps.
