Are you supposed to do that optional essay? Because when I read optional I read "to explain something unexplained fill me out". I don't really have anything else to say that's that important. But I don't want Yale to think I'm not interested because I really am. Really. Yeah.

So what did you guys write about for the optional essay? I know you wrote it. :)

I wrote my supplemental essay on a totally random topic, but it showed a different side of me. When they say explain something unexplained, that could be how you're an awesome boggle player, the funniest person in your chem class, or how you've been a simpsons enthusiast since the 3rd grade. Do it, go wild, and good luck.

oh. dear. well, if it's not offensive to ask, could some of you tell me what you wrote yours on? i'm a little confused as to what i should say - how much i like chocolate milk? dvorak? help. thank you.

Would encourage you to write this (additional) essay.
Potential topics can be something that's important to you & that you have not presented in depth elsewhere on your appl:
- a major interest that you have?
- community/service work?
- summer experience?

Yes, definitely do the supplemental essay. I'm interested in double-majoring in music and physics/chem, so my main essay was primarily about my interest in science and my supplemental essay was about my disastrous choral audition my first summer at Interlochen. You could write about anything you wanted, though, whether it's an EC or just a hobby. Anything you think the admissions office might find interesting :)
