Application Help- The Books Question

Hey-

I was doing my Columbia app and you guys know how they ask about the books you know, etc. Should we put the author as well or just the title of the book?
This may have been asked before but I couldn't find it.
Thanks in advanced.

i just put the titles, no authors

I put both title and author’s name. Some of the things I’ve read are I guess on the more obscure side [ie: Haweswater by Sarah Hall].

I put title and author’s name exactly like the post mentioned above. I guess it would depend on what books you have read and if you’ve read multiple books from the same author. I’m dead set on finishing every book John Grisham has ever written. He’s a popular author so if you’ve been reading any popular books I don’t think it would be necessary to put the author’s name down. But that’s up to you- I did. I’ve read most of his books within the past year so I kind of spread them out within my answer so the repetition didn’t bore anyone who was reading it and the other books would be noticed as well.

To be safe I would just put title and author. It doesn’t hurt.

i just put the title. i didn’t have room for titles and authors.

other people might though. it doesn’t hurt. but remember that it also doesn’t ask you to. so.

Hey,
So this question bothered me for a long time, so when a Columbia Rep. came to my school I asked him and he said that generally you should not put down author bc believe it or not theyre pretty smart people in the admissions office, and if theres a book they dont know they can google it. If however, your reading a really obscure book ( like a chinese romance novel) then he said you could get away with it.
Personally I did not put authors down. I ran out of room as it was and did not want to waste any valuable space.
I don’t think they would care per say if you did put down the author but I also feared that they would think I did it to take up space. ya know?

You know what’s funny, I asked my friend this question and he said “I just put the title- they can google it” haha and I thought no way- so rude. So it’s kind of funny that you said they will google it xD

I also thought putting the author would look like I’m trying to fill space, but I didn’t know what the norm was.

Thanks so much for the input!

Just the title.

GUYS I HAVE A BIG QUESTIOn
on the book question, if you put down a school read book, but wrote the title wrong…would that be a negative?? i mean, would they take it to hurt and kinda look at me in a lesser way?
