I’m a grade 11th student from India. I’ll be applying for the Fall of 2016.
How is the application process exactly? I’m clear about giving the SAT and Subject Tests, and keeping high school grades high, but how to begin applying? What other documents should I be prepared with (essay, recommendation letters etc) and other papers since I’m an international student? How to send all this information? When does one receive a reply? Do interviews follow? What other details about application procedure are important?
My main college choices are UC Berkeley, Cornell, Stanford, NYU, Johns Hopkins. I intend to do a biology major.
It will be different for every university you apply to – different documents required, different deadlines, and different time for hearing admission results. Only a few universities require interviews. You can usually start applying to universities around August or September, and deadlines can range from October to February or later, depending on whether you are applying for the early (first round) of admissions or not. Just check each university’s website on the admissions page during the summer for information. Some people create their own Excel document to enter critical information about documents and due dates to keep track of it all. As an international student, you may be asked about English skills or financial resources to pay for tuition.
Most of those universities will accept the common application. Other requirements are here:

Thank you so much!
