Application Help

Does applying to ND as a HS senior have any affect on a possible future application as a transfer?

I've always wanted to go to ND, but my stats (1180/1750 SAT, 4.14W, 3.34UW GPA, and top 10% at a public school in SoCal) likely aren't good enough for me to have a chance at getting in.

However, would applying now have any positive affect on a future transfer application, such as showing interest in the school?

I'm kind of on the fence as to whether or not to apply. As with most kids who dream about going to ND, I could write a great essay about why I want to go there, but would my stats even give me a shot at getting in? If not, is it worth it to apply just because it might help with a future transfer app?

Thanks for any advice!

I don't know about the transfer thing, but honestly I don't think your chances are horrible if you can get up the SAT. I think you should retake and try for at least about 2000, and if you have good ECs or any hooks like legacy or URM you might have a shot. Your rank is okay, assuming you have taken challenging classes. You will definitely have to write an amazing essay to stand out.

Unfortunately, it won't help you any as a transfer :(. However, I do think you should apply anyways! You never know what will happen and if it is your dream school it is going to be worth the shot! Good luck!
