Application issues and CSU local preference

this is the email I sent to CSULA admissions office and I was hoping some of you guys can answer my questions

Hi my name is Eljah and I was just reviewing my CSU application (already submitted) and I noticed under the A-G matching category that I have 5 years under visual and performing arts. I’m confused as to why it’s 5 and wondering if it’s a mistake on my application. I can’t fix it because I already turned in my application. Another issue I have is that for my freshmen grades, I did not input my math grade because my 10th,11th, and 12th, already fullfill the A-G requirements. Is that okay for me to do? And finally, reagarding the local preference for CSU, I applied to CSLA and where I live, I am not considered local. Does that lower my chances of getting admitted even if I have met the requirements?

You need to fill out all grades 9-11th for all your a-g courses regardless if you meet or surpass the minimum requirments. Your transcript must match your self-report grades so email each CSU with the correction and keep any documentation you receive back. How many semesters of band/choir/art etc. … did you report on the CSU application?

I took 4 years of band. I think video 1 was the reason for that extra year.

If my transcript does not meet my slef reported grades, will that affect my admission?

If your transcript does not match your self-reported grades, your acceptances could be rescinded. Many students make mistakes on their applications and the schools are used to this, so just call or email admissions with the corrections and make sure you get documentation back that your application was updated or they noted the corrections.

Local applicants do get priority so make sure you apply to your local CSU also.

When emailing them the changes, do I just provide them with the changes that need to be made?

Just let them know what course(s) you omitted and the grades. Include your CSU application ID and any other pertinent information to make sure your changes are applied to the correct applicant. You can always call admissions and find out what you need to include just to make sure.

TYSM for responding by the way. Another question, what GPA do CSU look at weighted or unweighted? And do EC give me an upper hand?

Cal states look at the CSU/UC capped weighted GPA (8 semesters of honors points for UC approved Honors/AP/IB or DE courses) but they will also look at all your a-g courses taken 9-11th and their corresponding grades. EC’s are not considered (exception Cal Poly SLO) or did not notice you did not have to list your EC’s?
