Application Issues

I just applied for the next decision because I couldn't make the priority deadline. (Please don't let it have a huge impact on my application.) I put in the request to have my transcript sent to UIUC on November 27th, and my school says transcripts take a maximum of two weeks to be sent, especially in December to meet January deadlines. Yesterday was the 14th, so it should have been sent by now. However, I just got home, sent the application and paid when the application tells me I have to print and attach a paper to my transcript because I don't live in Illinois. Why oh why oh why does this happen to me?!?

So my school is about to start midterm exams (Because Florida goes on a crazy schedule. Don't ask.) and I am unsure how responsive guidance will be in rushing my transcript ahead of the line to have it resent before winter break, or if they will be even willing to do that. (Trust me, they'll tell me I'm irresponsible or something.) All the paper has on it is my address, my login ID for my application in very small print, and the message saying I'm supposed to attach it; I'm not sure why UIUC even needs it considering my transcript has my home address on the top of it. Does anyone know, especially students from OOS, if this paper is absolutely necessary?

Finally, one more question. How is the application status updated. Currently, it says that the only thing they are missing are my transcripts. (Duh.) It also says that they got my SAT score. I sent my just-scored ACT score, which is much higher than my SAT score, yesterday as soon as I was able to. When UIUC gets it, will the status be updated to show a new "received" date, or will it stay the same because they already have my SAT? Thanks.

Did you do it online? I do remember looking over the paper application and seeing that sheet, however I did it online and I dont believe it was necessary. Im from Michigan and didn't have to attach the sheet or anything, so Im guessing its just for the paper app. And your second question about updating, its somewhat delayed. i remember haveing my transcript sent on November 6th, and the site didn't update and say my transcript was recieved until at least 3 weeks later, around the end of november. however they list it as recieved on November 8. Hope that helps, good luck

I applied online and there was nothing requested to be sent by out of state students.

I am not sure what that attachment is so you might want to call UIUC and find out if it is necessary. It looks like something to just make it easier to match your transcript with you since it includes log in ID but I would question if it is a necessity. Also, in case you have to resend transcript, be aware that it does not have to be in UIUC's hands until January 15 so you still have time.

It is unlikely that the test score section on your on-line file will change. They will use whatever score they believe is higher (SAT or ACT) for admission but that on-line file is mainly to show only that you have met the requirement of having a test score on file and does not determine which test score will be used for admission and usually it just stays at the first one they get and record.

I applied online. Here is the test of the page slightly abridged:

Dear dvm258,

Thank you for applying to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Please contact your high school counselor and request to have your transcript sent to the University of Illinois. This transcript can be sent directly through the Illinois Electronic Transcript Exchange. If your high school is not participating in the Exchange or you attend school outside of Illinois, please have a paper copy of the transcript sent directly from the high school with this page attached.

Have all documentation sent to:

Well, now they say they have it, but they're still missing my college transcript from Florida Atlantic University from the course I took this summer. Guess what? The two were in the same envelope! If it doesn't show up as received by Friday I'll call them. Right now, I'm feeling patient.
