I just recently applied for college for this yearr. I think I may have messed up twice..

Firstly, on the application, i said i was in NHS for all four years. I have been in 10, 11, and 12, but I wasnt in 9th cause no one can be in it becasue its the year you apply to get in. During the application, i was thinking I have been in either NJHS (national junior honor society) or NHS (national honor society) ever since 8th grade. So, starting 9th, i put i was in NHS. It wasnt a mistake i did purposely, but I still made it. Is this "lie" going to get back at me?

I put on my application that I did tennis for all four years. I did tennis 9th, 10th, and 11th grade. I was planning to do it this year, but my APs (5) and other clubs along with college stuff is slightly overwhelming. I dont want to do it this year as it takes a lot of my time up. But on my application, I said I would do it. What do you think I should do? Should I just l eave it, will they catch/reject me for it?

thankss! not trying to be a liar but tured out that way? :/

I had similar problems and worries a while ago. Send the colleges a short e-mail with this same information and you will be good. Absolutely no needs to worry (personal experience).

I would not send anything. Sending something just brings attention to something that is frivolous. You did not lie and you have filled your time with equaly important EC’s. The adcoms are busy.
Does make one wonder how many applications are riddled with intended lies and falsehoods.

so wait, so should I reply or not? Its something small, if they wont bother with it I dont want to say anything. But IF they do notice it, whatll happen?

Another note, I applied to a buncha schools, pretty good ones too. Lots of emails…

thanks for your answers tho!

I sent emails to 8 universities to correct some minor mistakes on the application. I made explicit that I knew such corrections wouldn’t change an admission decision, but also told them I was sending the e-mail “just for the record”. The adcoms that read the e-mails simply thanked for the updates and kept them on my file. It was a harmless process and drove my “insecurities” away.

On the other hand, I too believe that such errors won’t cause you trouble if you leave them the way they are right now. It’s up to you.

I think the colleges will appreciate your honesty and thoroughness by sending an update.

Tell the college that why you indicated 4 years which is supposed to be 3, student should be honest anyway.
For tennis, regard your “lie” as a motivation to your participation, just carry on and make it a “truth”. IMO, you should always study, tennis is grate!
