So far I am applying to MIT, Caltech, Harvard, Harvey Mudd, UMN, UW-Madison, UChicago, and Princeton, and I am considering:
Stanford, Yale, Brown, Columbia, NYU, Cornell, UPenn, Carnegie Mellon, Northwestern, UMich, UVa, UT-Austin, and Rice
Which colleges should I apply to? And did I leave any schools off my list?

I know this is a lot of colleges, so thanks a lot for any advice,

Are you mostly interested in colleges strong in science/math/econ? Do you have preferences as to weather/location, academic atmosphere, etc?

Yes, I am interested in science/math/econ schools, and preferably school which are good in all three, as I’m still unsure about what I want to do. I don’t really care about the weather. I would like to be around smart people, but it isn’t that big of a deal.

If you apply to UT-Austin, apply to the Plan II Honors program or the Dean’s Scholars Honors Program in Natural Sciences.

[Honors | Freshmen | Be a Longhorn](http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/freshmen/honors)

Plan II is itself a major, but about half of Plan II majors double-major in another field. If you are not accepted into a UT Honors program (their acceptance/denial decisions are sometimes difficult to rationalize…) go somewhere else.

Well NYU is full of funky, liberal people. You’ll meet a lot of really cool people over your four years there, I presume, but it may rub you the wrong way if you’re more on the conservative side. But if you’re okay with that, then go ahead and apply but I feel like it sticks out as a little bit of an odd one among your list of 10-something schools. Also NYU is more known for business/art/media, rather than math/science.

Cornell is a bit isolated though, whereas most of your other schools are nearer a major urban area (MIT/Harvard in Boston, Columbia/NYU right in the middle of NYC, and UPenn in Philly). Do you mind that at all?
