I applied to a college that I wanted to go to and selected the wrong major (ugh). I was so eager to send the application early and I completely messed up. I proof read, but missed the fact that I selected Psychology instead of Biology. What do I do? Would I be dumb to email the admissions counselor and tell her of my stupid mistake?
Email admissions at the school immediately. Considering the alternatives it’s the best possible thing you can do.
If you put down psychology as a genuine typo or mis-check of a box, then it’s no big deal to ask for the change and to do so promptly (maybe after another proofread).
But if you marked it because you are going back and forth in your head between psych and bio, you might want to give it another week to let it settle out. Asking to change one time isn’t going to be a problem, especially this early in the application process. But you don’t want to have to ask to change it back if you change your mind again.
