Application Numbers Released

First-year housing crunch - News

"Although this goal may seem simple enough, after receiving an over 20 percent increase in Early Decision applications from last year, the Admissions office predicts an even larger first year class than this year's 482 students.

The Admissions Office has received 4,472 applications at this point, which is an all-time high and a 1.3 percent increase from last year"

Yeah...supposedly the only reason they're increasing the number they're admitting is to make up for money lost in the endowment as a result of the financial crisis.

Personally, I think it's a bad idea. I mean, it's good, because it means the acceptance rate will be higher than otherwise...but Davidson's just...too small.

This semester, more students came back from abroad than left.... So they had to find interesting places for students...turning the Carnegie Guest House really, really nice basement into an apartment, and stuff like that.

Don't worry -- all students will have beds. Especially first-years. What this means is that they will accept a lot more requests to live off campus than they usually do.

sounds desperate..!!
