<p>Once the ED deadline passes, the ED apps are read in one pool, and then the RD pool. I think. Correct me if I'm wrong.</p>

<p>That's what "pool" means. Adcoms wait till all the apps are "pooled" and then they have a massive reading orgy in December. err... reading ...session. lol</p>
<p>If it's not rolling admissions, all the applications are read together for ED. Same with RD.</p>
