Calm down, it's not even August yet.

UPenn accepts the common app too right?

Does it look bad if I send in the common app instead of filling in the Upenn applicaiotn seperately?

jai6638, that same topic was discussed in a recent thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=214472

jai6638, I dont think it will matter. If they want people to use the common app. That's why they went with the common app this year.

kind of on a related note, are essays supposed to be single spaced?

I would think make it 1.5 or double....it makes it easier to read.

oh ok, because they can only be 1 page max, and a page double spaced would be really short compared to a page single spaced...

I think they recommend essay to be 300-500 words long. By "they" I mean colleges in general.

I have noticed them some colleges have cool things for their prospective/current students. For instance, NYU has a adcom discussion forum where prospects can post their questions. CMU/SMU have an online chat with the adcom. MIT has adcom blogs!

Does Penn have stuff like this?

Mine was single spaced, about 600 words.

for the autobiography essay, can you write about anything pretty much? this seems very open ended.... i'm thinking about writing about a book i read, which is one of the questions in the common app i think, but that could work for this question too, right?

it says send part 1A asap becuase of the interviews and all.

interviews dont mean anything do they?

Penn interviews seem rather insignificant.

Question: why would they want to do interviews on questions about the campus. I think that the environment is important and all, but I dont think it is necessary to be talking about that stuff until we get admitted. Dont you guys think the same?

they want to make sure you show "interest" =

one of my essays was over 850 words and one was over 900 words...so don't be afraid to single space it and write a lot...as long as it all has a purpose...i really couldn't say everything i wanted to in much less words...and the interviews are layed back but you still wanna do well in them..to show you're interested and you wanna be there..

Man, same short and long essay questions.

What if I want to apply online? I dont think they have their online app uploaded yet so can I send the paper Form 1A and then apply the rest of the application online?

Also, if I want to use the College App, does it put me at an advantage since I wont be able to send in the Form 1a earlier?

no i dont think you can send in 1a paper and the rest online..if i remember correctly from last year. Sending in 1a ASAP is not that big of a deal. I completley didnt even read where it said that and ended up sending in 1a not that long before the rest of my app..and i still got an interview...so don't worrty about it..the online will be up soon and then you can send it in
