I used the universal college application (alternative to common app) to apply to university of rochester and submitted in my application and supplement just now.

when i got to the payment page, universal college application only offered mail in payments (it offered online payment for jhu which i applied to a day ago).

the thing is that common app offers payment for the application for u of rochester via online.... so the question is: is it ok that i apply and submit the application via universal college application but submit payment through common app?

I’ve never really dealt with the Universal app, so if I’m off base, someone please say so.

It looks to me like these are two SEPARATE companies, so I don’t understand how you can fill in your application on one and send payment through another.

“is it ok that i apply and submit the application via universal college application but submit payment through common app?”

Although I have never heard of the Universal College Application (I don’t understand why you would use this over the Common App), it wouldn’t make sense to pay through Common App when it is a completely different application system. Think of it this way–If you bought a Mongoose bike (Universal Application) from the Mongoose Bicycle Shop (Universal College Store) you wouldn’t send your money to the Trek Bicycle Shop (which sells Common App’s-Trek Bikes) for payment of the Mongoose Bike.

i use both common app and universal college application because…

i first used the common app and used it to submit an ED application…the thing is after you submit one application you can’t alter anything anymore, like the essay.

for my regular decision application, i wanted to submit a more revised essay but i couldn’t change it on common app, hence i used the universal college application to make a new application.

as for the payment thing…i thought it would work cuz in the end…the money from common app and the universal college application both go to the same place, university of rochester.

common app and universal college application both are just involved in the transaction and providing the receipt…in the end, its the colleges that get the application fee
