Hey guys, I recently got my senior pics done, and something was mentioned in the ordering packet that needs clarification. On the college app, does it have a designated spot to put a picture of yourself? Do you need wallet pictures to use on any part of the app? Thanks

No there is nothing like this. it sounds like the photography place trying to rip you off

georgetown requires a picture so they can put a face to the app. but it can be any picture. I think a few other schools do too.

yeah, i heard that many schools prefer a picture to be sent in with the application. Like what hec2008 said, it makes more application more alive and they are reminded that they are dealing with a human being rather than just an accumulation of stats.
All you need to know is that including a pic wont hurt, but instead help you.
You should definitely include a pic.

My son applied to eight schools, and not one required or even suggested a photograph.

He did end up needing two photographs after choosing a school, one for a freshman directory and one for the housing office.

I can't think of a single good reason for a university to need to see what a candidate looks like. It is a pretty untalented admissions officer who needs to see a photograph to envision a student's qualifications and "fit" for a school, unless one's appearance is important to the school.

well if you look particularly attractive it might help no? in a subconscious type of way. :P Even admissions officers are humans.

They're probably trying to make sure you're not lying if you put down "Black" or "Hispanic," which honestly many people do to get the upper hand in admissions.

Well I'm not sure how they can prove if you are hispanic through your picture... hispanics generally look like all different races, many look very "white".

Some schools want pictures for admission purposes, like upenn, mabye to make sure u dont lie about ur race

Both Brown and Columbia asked for a picture with my daughter's application. If you're applying online you need an electronic copy, so wallet prints would be pretty useless.
