So, I sent off my application on the 15th of January. Like, BEFORE 9:30. I tried to check on the website & my SSN didn't fit. Then I emailed them and they said they didn't receive it. -_-
Any help??

Your are so screwed. There is probably nothing you can do and your best bet is to contact them. You should check this in January.

that’s the technical definition for fail.

If you tried to apply on Jan. 15, and are only now checking on things, then I would think that they would see that as a real lack of responsibility on your part. I would guess that you have no chance with this, and should go with Plan B.

um, i contacted them atleast twice before, starting two weeks after i sent it off (the site said it could take up to two weeks to fully process the materials). each time they told me i would talk to another representative & i never got to talk to them.

The reason I was asking is because I thought I remembered that you had an issue with another application that was late (Maryland or something), and you have been posting a number of replies with incorrect information (OOS admission chances, private school as a plus, etc.). It looked to me like you might have had issues due to trying to apply at the last minute, and by not always doing your research on how decisions are made. It looks like you have a lot of other options, though, so good luck next year!

thanks for the wishes.
I have yet to hear from maryland like most who didn’t apply before dec 1. however, I’m not sure what that or my opinion of admissions chances has to do with my issue of my uga application.

I was trying to not insult you, but at the same time bring up a trend of either applying at the deadline or beyond at multiple colleges, thus not giving yourself any leeway in fixing any problems you might encounter. In addition, if you are giving out information that is clearly incorrect about admissions procedures at UGA (OOS review process, private high school preference, etc.), then it does not look like you did your homework in understanding both how UGA does admissions and possibly how to take care to apply correctly on time. Admissions offices are not exactly thrilled with people that push deadlines or who are late with applications/supporting docs, and with two colleges where you have had issues applying, it starts to look more like a trend and less like an exception. If you want to be considered for admission by a college, you need to do your research and take care of your application before a deadline hits.

excuse me? trouble applying?
not trying to attack you, but i’m having trouble HEARING BACK from maryland rather than actually getting my documents in. i had all my documents way before jan. 20th for that, so please don’t use that against me. if you read the topic (as well as my post) you’d know that, as i stated before, other people have yet to hear. in fact, we were all told we’d hear back by the end of the week. it’s definitely not a lack of care on my part, it’s the efficiency of them getting the decisions sent out when they said they would. but i’m not faulting them for that. highly understandable.
second, i’m not using the information that i received from many people including my guidance counselor as proof that i will be admitted no doubt. college is a crapshoot i’ve learned & i am just repeating what i’ve heard. as many people on this board are doing. for instance, i put up my stats for penn state & everyone was a critic, saying that i’d NEVER have a shot at getting in. and come late january i was accepted.
and last time i checked, i filled everything out on that UGA application, pressed payment, & i was told my application was submitted. so i don’t know if i’m at complete fault for my application and my problems (not bashing UGA of course) but i’m a little irked. especially since it’s one of my top choices if i can’t afford other schools i’ve applied to.

happyface2002: What I am referring to is what I remembered (and then went back to look at and copy) of an earlier reply by you stating “I was planning on sending off my app ON dec. 1st but i forgot to press SUBMIT, leading to me sending it off two weeks late”. This was for Priority Consideration I am guessing (UM deadline of Dec. 1), not RD, but that is what I am talking about. I am not saying if you are to blame or not, but you have put yourself in a bad situation if you repeatedly try to apply to colleges on or just before the deadline, as you give no room for error. And if UGA was your top choice, I would have expected you to take care of your application well before the deadline, and to make sure everything was taken care of.

Second, just because other people share bad information does not give you the okay to give out bad information, especially if the correct information is right there for you to see on the UGA website ([UGA Undergraduate Admissions - Top Ten UGA Admissions Urban Legends](http://www.admissions.uga.edu/myths/index.html)) where it specifically states “Admissions standards are exactly the same for out-of-state applicants as they are for in-state applicants. UGA does not have a cap on the number of out-of-state students that can be admitted.” I understand that sometimes people might give you bad information, but being the one to then spread that bad rumor does not help anyone.

I totally agree with GAdawg. I was dismayed to see the false information given by Happyface on the chance thread. UGA impressed me with their honesty and fairness during the admission process. The UGA website is easy to navigate and goes out of the way to make the process clear. Decision for both early action and regular decision are available to everyone at the same time on the website instead of worrying about the mail. They even remind you to consider if you want to wait until you are alone to look at it.
