Application process at Yale

Hi everyone,

I want to apply to Yale next year and since I am an international student I would like to ask you if you could describe the WHOLE application process to me. Although I know what you need to apply to college, I was just asking myself what will happen after I will have pressed the button
Apply to Yale Online
.

Thank you very much for every, even the smallest details.

Well, I’m not sure if it works the same way for international students, but there is something called the Common Application. It can be found on google. You must set up an account with the common application, and then from there, the website pretty clearly lays things out. Most colleges use this method, but not all. There is a search option on common app. Below, I have listed the major components of the common application:

Future Plans (intended major (non binding), do you want to live on campus, etc.)
General Information (ie name, birthdate, parents names)
Test scores (AP, TOEFL, SAT, ACT, SAT II)
Senior year courseload, GPA, class rank
awards and honors
extra-curriculars
1 essay (open ended)
1 short answer about extra-curriculars
Extenuating circumstances section (also place to attach a resume)
Internationals might have to fill out another section, I’m not sure

Then, many colleges, including Yale, require a supplement of some sort (these are highly individual to the college itself)
Yale requires a second essay (also relatively open ended), a why Yale short answer essay, and several short answer questions.
