Hi, my son applied as an out of state student and today his guidance counselor told him she hasn’t received any requests from UF. He submitted last week and his application portal shows that everything has been received. He also put his housing application and deposit in.
I am thinking that because UF does not read recommendation letters and they use the SSAR, they probably don’t need anything from the school? He entered his school information and included his guidance counselor’s name and contact info. I double checked and everything looks correct.
I think maybe she is just not used to dealing with this school (I only know one person from the past 5 years in our town who has attended UF) and the Coalition app, so I think everything is set, but now my son is nervous about it since UF is his number one choice.
So, my question is: Would UF need anything from the high school guidance counselor at this point? Thank you!
Since UF uses the SSAR, I can’t see what else they would need from the counselor at this point. My son did have some problems with Coalition, where his counselor was not receiving requests for all transcripts. So, at one point, he got nervous and manually requested all of them through his HS for all schools, including UF. In that instance, they have his SSAR and his transcript. If the portal does not show anything outstanding, I would trust it. However, I don’t see any problem in him shooting the admissions office a quick, short email double checking. I know how stressful this is for everyone!
Thanks! That’s what I thought, but it’s good to hear from others that it’s correct. I think the guidance counselor said she will call the admissions office, but I’m pretty confident they have everything that they need.
