Application process

No, S didn’t see any email about football tickets. He has Sr Leadership weekend anyway so he couldn’t have gone. I just received the permission slip 3 days ago, I didn’t even know about it. Lucky an offer of football tickets didn’t come prior  Hoping to get tickets to a game this fall and have him do a big visit while classes are in session. Will have to look back in the threads and see if there are any Honors college events in the fall, although he has visited the honors college. He is more interested in seeing the campus in full swing and talking to Prof/Dept Head.

What is this about football tickets? We just received the email about the CWID number and all my son’s stuff has been submitted by the beginning of July. I did email admissions on something and never heard back. I have had some good connect with our regional rep though. Did the email come to your personal account or the bama account? My son loves football and dreams of marching next year in the band. Any band folks out here?

Hokiefan: My son’s suite mate is a section leader in the Million Dollar Band. I got to meet him over the weekend. Very nice young man. He told me that he would not be seeing anyone in his suite regularly until January. As for the football tickets, my son told me that each fall there is a game (or perhaps, two) where tickets are set aside for prospective students. I do not know what the criteria is to get those tickets. When I have the chance, I’ll ask him. He did not have the chance to go to a game before attending UA, as he did not apply until October of his senior year.

@hokiefan. Not sure what the criteria was…D received email in her personal account the day after the CWID email. It is 2 tickets to UA/Penn State game. We got our confirmation today. Link wasn’t working yesterday but got new email this morning with the correct information.

Only decision she has to make now is who she wants to go with her, dad or me? She is getting tickets to a Falcons game for her birthday so one parent will go to UA game and the other to Falcons game… gonna be a tough decision.

I wonder if they think we won’t come because we live so far! Ha Ha.
It will be hard to schedule because of Fall Soccer, but S hasn’t rehabbed his knee very well from winter surgery so I’m thinking he is not going to be playing much. Wonder how hard it would be to get tickets for UA/AU game? I’m sure thats a huge rivalry, but kids will be going home for the holiday.

ldinct: A lot of the Alabama students are not going home for the Thanksgiving holiday, since the dorms will be open. My son originally thought about giving up his ticket, but will stay. He says it’s too expensive to fly home for just a few days.

Thanks everyone for the football ticket feedback. I remember reading on here that someone this go around received tickets last fall. That would be so awesome.

Momreads: I hear you about being busy during football season. My son will be busy with football games and competitions through November, and than concert season starts. But he loves music and really likes the marching band. I am a bit concerned when he goes off to college the band may take up too much time. I also thing it will preclude him from trying other things because of the time committments. I guess to each his own. He will have to figure it out himself. He is still waiting to hear back from Bama but it is his number one choice. He has the stats to go most places but he was really impressed during our Easter break visit. And of course I fill him in on all the perks I read about here.

Beat of luck to everyone this fall. I am all ears hearing how folks are adjusting. My son hopes to be there next year as an aerospace engineer.

Hokiefan: My son’s suite mate (who is in the Million Dollar Band) is a pre-med and has nearly a perfect GPA. He is in the computer-based honors program. This summer, he did research on campus for one of his professors. He obviously has learned to juggle the band duties, academics and having a social life. Oh, he also receives scholarship money for being in the MDB.

We received the message regarding the CWID set-up, but my daughter had already set up her account. She applied July 2nd and still not word on her acceptance. Maybe something will show up this week.

She received her official acceptance letter in the mail today…

D received her official letter of acceptance today!

S received his too! Roll Tide.

*We received the message regarding the CWID set-up, but my daughter had already set up her account. *

I don’t know if she has to set it up with the CWID, or if she’s ok the way it is. Does mybama show that she can apply to honors and/or give a deposit?

Congrats to those who’ve rec’d acceptances. It’s nice to have an assured acceptance in one’s pocket!!!

Son received his letter today. He was really psyched. Now he has to get his honors college app filled out. Can’t get him moving, still in summer mode with marching band camp starting tomorrow. Still hoping we get offer for marching band tickets… In the meantime, lets go Hokies.

Sorry for all the questions- can you apply for Honors now, which didn’t look incredibly difficult and then apply for cbhp (which requires a resume, which is not done) later? Or do you want your honors app essay to mention your interest in cbhp?

We set up my daughter’s mybama account before having the CWID. Once she was officially admitted, the CWID just showed up, along with the ability to apply for Honors College, scholarships, etc.

Now if she’ll just find the time to get those applications completed!

^^^^

Good to know! your D may have used her SSN for the initial set up.

I don’t think you need your UHP essay to mention interest in CBH, but it wouldn’t hurt.

My kids submitted apps to all at one time, so don’t know about doing UHP now, and CBH later.

^I like your nickname on the Bama threads, M2K. And to think I’ve always “known” you as mom2collegekids. Funny. Btw, I can’t thank you enough for turning our attention towards Alabama. It seems to be everything you said it was. Thank you, thank you.

To anybody … my son got his CWID a few days ago, and has successfully signed in to his myBama account a few times, but so far there’s no link for Scholarship Applications, under Admissions (under the Academics tab) as described on the website. Is this because he hasn’t yet been admitted? (They’re waiting on his scores and transcript, I’m assuming.) Does this sound right?

^^^

You’re very welcome! :)

You can go under the academic tab under the myBama account and check the application status. Also, if you click on the freshman deposit link it will say “you haven’t been admitted to Alabama pleas contact the admissions department.” That should let you know his status.
