Over summer, I took a class and got a horrible grade for it. This semester, I am repeating that same class. On the application, we can indicate that we are either currently taking a class (IP) or have already taken that class followed by the grade we received. How do I indicate on my application the grade I received the first time I took the class and also say that I am "IP" since I am repeating that same class this semester?

At my CC, we can repeat a class and the better grade out of the two will be substituted on our final transcript and added to our GPA.
Thanks in advance!

“If I repeated a course, should I list it twice?
Yes. List the courses you took and grades you earned for each term, even if you repeated them or plan to repeat them.”

You will find this and other help on the side of the page where you can review your academic history.

@ HelloPersonC: Yes I remember reading this but I didn’t know how I could indicate both IP classes and repeated classes… but I just realized my mistake. I was just filling out the application incorrectly…well, thats embarrassing. Please disregard this thread considering I was a goof for posting it. LOL!

I haven’t filled out the application in awhile but isn’t there a section immediately after where you input grades that asks if you want to explain anything about your transcripts? I’m pretty sure it was there when I filled out the app granted that was two years ago. If not there’s definitely an additional comment section after the personal statements that you could list that in.

Remember, also that in situations like that you really do need to list every attempted class on your application. It really doesn’t matter what your CC’s policy is, your CC doesn’t dictate how the UC’s choose to interpret your transcript. In situations like this sometimes you’ll even have a discrepancy between what your CC determines is your GPA and what the UC’s do. Fortunately though, as long as your first attempt was not a passing grade (not a C or above) and as long as you repeat it and pass the course the UC’s policy is to replace a grade of D/F with your first passing grade when calculating your UC transferable GPA for admission.
