Application Question: Languages

The Columbia applications asks:

"What languages, other than English, do you speak fluently?"

I've been taking French for four years now and will be taking AP French this fall. I feel like I am pretty fluent in the language as well. Should I put that down? Or will it look like I'm already fluent in French and have been taking French in school just because I already know it?

Hey h00dr1chh! I had taken Spanish for 5 years, including AP last year, but I didn’t put it in languages I speak fluently. I would like to hear past applicants’ opinions as well.

i think that language is for like people who is really fluent at their parents’ tongue. For example, some people’s first language is not english but another language, so they can list that other language
