Application Question - Personal Statement Word Count

I know there are probably a ton of posts about personal statements and word counts but I looked and looked and couldn't find any to answer my question:

Does the third personal statement, the one to expand upon or clarify things previously mentioned in your application (part 3 of 3) count into the total 1000 word limit? I want to use it but am arleady at 1005 words with the first two statements..

And (I know this is probably also a FAQ) do I have it right that all you need to do is submit the application online and pay the fee (and, of course, send the scores)? No counselor rec? I'm just so used to the common application.....

I'm pretty sure that the third part doesn't count in the 1000 word limit. Nevertheless, even for the two questions, mine are a combined 1096, and the server accepted it, so I think the max is 1100.

As for your other question, yes, you are correct. Just pay the fee, send your scores, and submit the app online. No recs at all, counselor or teacher. UC's have a more objective approach in their admissions, though they are becoming more holistic.

The third part does not count in the thousand words. The thousand words is for the first two prompts combined. The additional comments section has a word limit of 500, I think.

Application + fee + scores = all you need.

did last years app have a 1000 word limit on all 3?

I don't know about 2007, but 2006 had three prompts and suggested a 600 max word count for one and 400 combined for the other two.

Wait are you sure we have to submit SAT scores from the collegeboard? What if they're included on our district transcripts?
