application question

Within the past 24 hours my status has changed from “Your application and high school transcript have been received. Please continue to check your status." to “Your application is complete and all of your required materials are here.” and it is now “We are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made". On average how long from now will a decision be posted? I applied in September and my application was complete early October.

My daughters status has been that same status (“A Decision will be avaliable as soon so one is made”) since ~September 8th…we checked with admissions and they said that while a small minority hear in November (top 10% applicants), mostly everyone else will hear between mid Dec and end of January for those that apply by Nov 30th. They don’t actually start “rolling” on the rolling admission until Nov 30th.
It also depends on the program you applied to. Same department majors seem to send out decisions at same time, others later. Some branch campuses and transfers have decisions already.
All of that being said, Check the admit thread from last year. You will see a lot of variation. But the official stance is probably January if you apply by Nov 30th. It’s hard to wait! My daughter is ready to hear some news since PSU is her #1 choice. Good luck!

My daughter’s status was changed to “Your application is complete and we are reviewing your credentials. You should expect an admission decision in four to six weeks. Check back here for updates. Status updated: 10/2/2014”. Her application material was completed on Sept 23.

^Did she apply to University Park or another campus?

@mpanpsu is she a freshman applicant for fall 2015 for University Park campus? I’ve not seen anyone with a timeline on their status before. That’s a new one to me. My daughters application has been complete since September 8th and we just have the same “when a decision is made” status.

Yes. She is a freshman applicant for University park.

She is a senior in high school and applies for fall 2015 Univ Park as a freshman.

Wow…that’s a new status I haven’t seen posted yet here on CC. That’s great for her to get a timeline! I wish my daughter had one! She applied Sept. 1 with all materials complete Sept 8th. But my guess is we are in for a longer wait.
What program did your daughter apply to @mpanpsu ? Maybe that might explain why she has a timeline on her application.

No major. Undecided.

My daughter has the same status, the four to six weeks time line. She has applied for University Park, engineering. Not sure what to make of it either.

Interesting! I hope you do find out in that timeline. The waiting is hard! We are on just about 8 weeks now, 7 with the same status. But I am just figuring on January, and if we find out sooner we can be pleasantly surprised! Good luck!

Do we have any further clarification about why some of the statuses have the 4-6 weeks and some don’t? My daughter just has the “We are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made". Thoughts? With November beginning soon, the nerves are elevating! Thanks!

I’m curious myself. My daughter got the 4-6 weeks status on Oct. 3, so we will find out in the next couple of weeks…

I have no idea. It’s not a status I’ve seen on any other threads and I’ve read a lot! I’m jealous of a timeline, lol…My daughter has the “we are reviewing your credentials” status and has since September 8th. So nerves are definitely on edge - I’m trying to remind her they told us that most people find out in January, but we know from experience that many also find out in November and December. It will be tough watching other decisions come in and continue to wait for hers! But also exciting! I’m wishing everyone the best of luck and hoping we all find out GOOD news soon!

Ok, totally confused. The status has changed today from the 4-6 weeks status to “We are reviewing your credentials. A decision will be available here as soon as one is made.”

@gatormom01 that’s the typical status that I’ve seen most have…but I don’t know why you had a timeline status change to that. The process is very confusing. For example they told us that they don’t start rolling decision making until Nov 30th, but people are starting to get the “coming days” status which means they are getting a decision very soon…obviously before November 30th.
I guess all any of us can do is wait! I think most people hear in December/January…

Regarding rolling admission. I remember 2 years ago when my son applied for Penn State, he had his application material completed by Nov 30 and got acceptance on Dec 6.

My application was submitted a few days ago, and I just received the following update.
Your application is complete and we are reviewing your credentials. You should expect an admission decision in four to six weeks. Check back here for updates.

It is great that some people are hearing back within a couple weeks! I saw a status posted today where they only waited about a week! But it is really nerve-wracking for those students who wait much longer. My daughter has had the same status (we are reviewing your credentials…) since September 8th. I am just not telling her about the admissions posted here, because she doesn’t read CC.
In the admissions chat the other day they said even if you and your friend have the same stats and applied the same day, it means nothing bad if your friend hears and you don’t yet. They have so many applictions…in some ways the order of acceptance seems completely random!
My D is a borderline applicant so we expect to wait a while, but it’s still hard. Good luck everyone!

what’s her score?
