application question

@charlesluljy not sure if you mean me or OP, but for my D, she has a 28 ACT and a 3.4UW (unsure what her weighted came out to be). She applied DUS, with the option of summer and Altoona as third choice. Not worried about getting into Altoona whatsoever. But that’s not where she wants.

I love how this is mostly all of us nervous parents that post here (self included). We are also in the holding pattern for a decision for my youngest daughter. She is not in the top scores that I see posted, but not a slouch either. Lots of extracurricular activities and volunteer hours. Better in math than in other subjects. Going for engineering at University Park. She’s had the “A decision will be posted here” status for a few weeks. My biggest question is if PSU still gives any weight for legacy. I’m a proud PSU grad, and her older sister is a student at University Park now. (They really want to be together if they can.) Wish everyone luck! For now, we wait. Can’t wait to see all of you post updated statuses in the coming weeks.

@PSUGradMom You will be happy to know that they DO consider legacy! My husband and I are both proud PSU alumni as well (1990 and 1994). I asked this questions at our tour and the admissions counselor said that yes, they absolutely consider it. It’s not one of the “heavily” weighted criteria, but every little bit helps.

Good luck! We’ve had the same status here since early September. My D doesn’t post or read these because it makes her too nervous. I read, and then let her know the important stuff. She and I handle stress differently, lol. I want to read all I can and immerse myself and she figures that if there’s nothing to do but wait, then she will just wait and no amount of reading on CC will change her outcome. She’s smarter than I am if you haven’t guessed ;)

@jlhpsu still waiting here… As I’ve posted previously… since 9/24 above average stats etc… etc… But good news is my son was accepted into Villanova so that was a relief!! I am really annoyed that he hasn’t heard yet and will even be more annoyed if he doesn’t get accepted directly in Smeal fall UP.

I applied on Nov 30 and my decision came in 2 weeks. If that helps?

Likewise. University of Cincinnati acceptance has come, but that is second fiddle. Really hoping this next pulls through. :)

Same. It was hard enough waiting for daughter 1 to get in. Daughter 2 is even harder since the two of them want it to happen so badly. I’m PSU 1991. Couldn’t be happier that they fell in love with it, too!

@mamahills‌ and @PSUGradMom‌ same here. We have an acceptance with a nice scholarship in her back pocket but it’s not where she wants to go. She’d rather go to Altoona than where she was accepted. So either way you slice it, she will be at PSU…but has her heart set on main!

@OrangeAndWhite‌ most of us have kids or have themselves been waiting for months with the same status…so you should feel very lucky you heard back so quickly! It’s not the norm at all. And Congratulations on getting accepted!
