I took the SAT in April and decided I definitely need to take it again(1230/1600).... with much more preparation. However, since I'm not taking it until september, would it be wise to send in my current score or wait till I take the sept one (and hopefully receive much higher). I'm just trying to get everything in as early as possible.

thanks

First important question is, have you submitted an application for NASS and submit PSAT or SAT scores?

yes i did submit a NASS application but only had my PSAT scores at the time

Not to answer this from USNA perspective because I have no idea, but my dad sits on a board for guarenteed admissions to med school at our local university and it sounds like for THEM at least it's better to submit 1 good score than try to get one in that's sucky and bring it up. He's commented several times when he meets someone who takes the ACT 5 times to FINALLY break the 30 barrier, and it's a negative to him because it's more like you're finally learning how to take the test than displaying you actually know how to work with the material.

You only mentioned SAT -- if it's available near you, why not try the ACT? I know I scored much better on ACT than SAT and the Naval Academy will take both scores.

i just realized the next SAT or ACT available in my state isn't until october, not september....i don't know, but maybe it is worth it to just wait until i take them again.
Till then i can prepare the rest of the application (congressional nominations, physical fitness, etc.)

Ok, i asked if you had submitted PSAT scores before because that is what they use to determine if you are intially eligible for an application. I recommend once you get a candidate number and access to the CIS, see how long it takes to complete everything else. If you finish everything else before your next SATs (remember, results don't come out for almost another month after taking the SATs), then I would submit your current SATs and tell your BGO that you're gonna take them again and kick ass.

you can wait to send them in until october, but remember that when you "send scores", ALL scores from every SAT you have taken get sent. so no matter what, they will see your first score. the question is whether you want to give them that first score now then "bring it up" or just send the new ones and have them have the new score right away...but they will still SEE the first scores.

I don't think they will. I heard that pre-board, someone sorts out your best SAT combinations and the board will never see the others.

oh that's good; so the Academy receives all scores, but the Board only receives the best.

Thats the info I was fed a few months ago.
