Application question

I hope this hasn’t been asked too many times before…

There is a part of the application that says, “Name a Penn professor with whom you would like to study or conduct research and explain why.” Am I really expected to provide a good answer to this? I am not familiar with the professors at Penn, but I guess I could look for some names in the news or ramdomly pick a professor from a department I like. I don’t know if that makes any sense, though.

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help!

Of course you are expected to provide a good answer. It wouldn't be asked if the situation were otherwise. Just look through a department's website and find someone whose research or courses you find interesting. It is not as difficult as some people make it out to be.
