Application Question

I just applied on line last night, should I have gotten any sort of application email from Brandeis. I’m really freaking out because I’ve been having problems with emailing this fall.

Also, I emailed the interview organizer with a question last sunday, should she have answered me by now.

Admissions officers are very busy people; alot of them just finished making their final recruiting tours (and thus, no email access). That's the problem I had with my regional rep. If it's a pretty "indepth" email (i.e. more than a sentence) don't expect a speedy response. That's what I've learned from my experiences. According to my sister, the fact that her Dartmouth rep emailed her back within a week was quite a feat. (this is assuming the interview organizer is a admissions rep)

Because the app for ED isn't due till November 15, I wouldn't fret out too much. Wait a few days for that and your other question, and if you still have no luck always just call the office.

I too have had some communication problems with admissions, you're def. not the only one. Things should smooth out.

I assumed that they have just been busy its just been bothering me since one person who needed to email me information was unable to despite triple checking my email address. Thanks for the response though

If it is important, call. Same if you want to confirm that your application has been received.

Remember a few things when dealing with the admissions office:

This is their busiest time of year, and they're probably going to set a record with the number of applications they receive (again).

Most of the staff has been there for a year or less. All of the staff in Operations has been there for less than a year.

The operations folks are experimenting with a brand new filing and "flow" system for their application process.

The counseling staff is out on recruitment travel, thus leaving the office short-handed.

So please, be forgiving. They work their asses off only to have angry parents and stressed-out students call up and yell and scream when things aren't going exactly as planned.

Our experience with Brandeis administration-admissions is that they aren't the most efficient or best organized but they do get the job done eventually and are helpful and friendly when you follow up with enquiries--don't expect instant responses but don't let unanswered questions slide indefinitely.

Pye, did you apply during the Fall '06 semester? If so, see my post above your's. That should explain things. During the Summer of '06, the admissions office lost it's entire operations staff and some of the counseling staff, and brought on a new director. I think they're allowed a bit of slack for that.

Yes, my D applied in Fall '06. How come they lost their whole staff?

Hello, Everyone:

I have started to register at the Universiy of Phoenix online. To do undergraduate work in the field of education. Are there any grants out there for one seeking a master's degree?

Since I don't work there anymore, I'm not sure it would be prudent to give out every sordid detail of what transpired, especially in a public forum. However, the people there now certainly know what they're doing; they're just short-staffed.

I know that during my time there, I tried to stress patience and serenity to those parents and students who called in, explaining that we were pushing paperwork through as much as we could, keeping in mind that accuracy took priority over speed.
