hello.

i know this is early because i am a junior, but..

i want to go to Cal, LA, or SC...

and i heard people who put bio majors or something that is highly wanted, obviously, don't have as great of a chance as someone applying with a major that is not as wanted..

so, when i apply. [i am thinking about psychology/anthropology.. but i also wanted to go pre-med.. but that might be too risky to put on my application] so should i put psych as my major? or anthropology? [i know it is bad, but what will help my chances of getting in?]

and if i was going to put psych, i was thinking about having my open-ended question about my love of people and the study of it, and how all the activities i am in help me encounter many different personalities and other stuff . that good? bad?

The thing is, unless you have other interests that are clearly demonstrated by your accomplishments and previous activities with decent time committments, your indicated major won't affect your admittions. Furthermore, when you're applying to the UCs, they get so many applicants that they are bound to fill all the spots. Colleges will see right through someone saying you're interesting in studying 'Russian literature' if they haven't done any work with Russian literature previously.

Oh and by the way, though your questions may seem really pressing. I think it would be a nice gesture for juniors to hold off on their questions for maybe a few days until the decions are all out and emotions have cooled down a little bit. I'm not contending CC.com be shut down to non-seniors, but if you don't have a very pressing question, it'd be great if you could wait.
