Do you have to have your entire online application done and sent in along with the application fee in order for them to schedule your interview? If not, what needs to be sent to the college? I'm kinda nervous here and I really want to get the interview out of the way. Thanks

Once your portion of the app is rec'd by the admissions office, your contact info will be sent to an area rep (if there is one in your locale). Interviews are not mandatory so it's the least thing to worry about.

Unless you sign up early enough online to get an On-Campus Interview and then you can get at least one interview out of the way. You don't need to send in your application to have an On-Campus Interview

Thanks guys. I live in Florida so I don't see an on campus interview as being very realistic. I guess I'll just have to finish up this application.

As to your original worry about "getting the interview out of the way", as I said in my 1st reply to you, don't worry about it. As an interviewer myself, I know that my written report most likely tends to confirm items already in your app file and very occasionally, might illuminate something relevant that the adcom might not know. The interview itself is rarely a deal breaker for a competitive candidate nor the propellant of an otherwise unremarkable applicant file.

It's only one component of your overall file -- and the smallest and usually least influential, too. Don't fret about it.

I'm sort of excited to interview. A friend of mine had a Yale interview last year and said it was actually quite interesting. I've heard the interviewers often end up going over the projected time because they stumble upon an interesting topic. I'm the kind of person who will most likely enjoy the interview, so my anticipation is positive.

Yeah, I'd like to get an interview, and I can do on-campus (I live in connecticut) though I dont see myself finishing the essays for the application before November 1st deadline. What options do we have? (Sorry if I am threadjacking, the question is kind of related)

Just go on the Yale website and to the Admissions page. If there are enough spots left, you can simply sign up for an interview online, no application needed yet. I had my on-campus interview already and I'll probably have an alum interview once I send in my application.
