I'm applying early action to Georgetown and I was taking a look at the 2009 application.

Where, generally speaking (common application) or specifically speaking (Georgetown application), do you list any awards or honors you received? I only see spaces for extracurricular activities, school activities, etc.

What were some innovative ways you were able to incorporate elements into your application that necessarily weren't asked for?

definitely include personal awards -- probably in the EC section if it were for a particular activity -- in terms of innovative ways to incorporate elements into your app that werent explicitly asked for, the essays are probably the best way to do that...good luck!

The Common Application does provide space for extra curricular activities. In that section, it says to provide any major events/accomplishments/honors etc.

For example, I want to include that fact that a won a major essay contest. Where would I put that? Its not necessarily an activity and the Georgetown application has no place to indicate that honor. Would admission officials be annoyed if I attached my own personal resume?

I think the question I am trying to ask is..is it accepted to send in any other materials that you feel is necessary to complete your "folder"?

ace 22 tennis, look right above the section where you list activities. It says

"Honors. Briefly list any academic distinctions or honors you have received since the 9th grade or international equivalent (e.g. National Merit, Cum Laude Society)."

That's where it goes. I don't see it on the Georgetown application, though.

If it is necessary to send in extra materials send it, but most likely it won't be necessary.

I just noticed the honors section on the Common Application and that is so convenient. I am surprised the Georgetown Application doesn't have that section - and they do not accept the Common Application.

How would you go about solving this problem with the Georgetown Application? There are several awards I want to tell them about but I can't find a place for them.

Georgetown's lack of a place to put honors suggests that the university doesn't care or want a list of awards. I recommend that you give the admissions office a quick call.
