Is it true that there is no essay required for the app? I was clicking around on the site and didn't find any info about submitting an essay.

As far as I know, yes. About 99% sure :) (yay!)

Dude...Canadian applications are easiest in this world.

from my experience Canada < rest of the world < UCAS (UK)< U.S (post insanity)

Coming from a person who applied to all of those systems (including 13 U.S. universities).

Ask any Canadian, and they will be like: Woot? U.S. universities need essays? (followed by laughter and american jokes)

No essay, just fill in your personal details, and uhm...send in your transcript...and uhm...you will get your acceptance in about a week. Make that two weeks since Canada is really far away from everywhere. For McGill you apply to two faculties, and you get to choose from those two. All in one application. You can also switch faculties once you get here, but you need to apply.

Canadian universities are all about grades, and if you have decent grades, you're in.

But of course, if you are applying for a scholarship, then you need an essay. But if you are an applicant who knows everything about the U.S. college game, you will simply amaze McGill and get like a $20,000 transfer into your account. At the moment, one of my buddies is using his scholarship money for $1 beers at Peel Pub (drinking age in Quebec is 18). And his essay was so bad, he probably couldn't get into Community College in the U.S. with it (an exaggeration of course...). It was like he wrote it based on Gossip Girl or something.

yep, no essay, unless you are applying for a major scholarship (i believe you need an essay for that, but most people dont apply for 1).

That's awesome! Thanks so much!
